CHARACTER NAME: Dist the Reaper
CHARACTER AGE: beautiful~

WHAT'S YOUR CHARACTER'S FIRST REACTION ON LEARNING THAT THEY HAVE A DOUBLE?
Oh, my, a double? Of /me/? Could Jade have finally grown lonely without me and decided to make a replica? But I'm right /here/! He can come visit me anytime! Ohhhhhh...

PERSONALITY: Dist (formerly known as Saphir), is both a simple and extremely complex man. On one hand, he is a narcissistic egomaniac with delusions of grandeur. On the other, he's a man yearning for the golden times of his youth.

Dist is a brilliant man and knows it. He wants to prove himself to be one of the greatest researchers and users of fontech in the world, both for his personal advancement, his secret goals, and to try to prove to Jade that he really is worth paying attention to. He takes pride in his appearance, loving to spend time making sure that his smooth, refined features are perfect. He travels in style, using the finest fontech conveyances and indulging in the finest things his position (and paycheck) can buy. After all, he's the Man With The Flying Throne. He doesn't hesitate to show off his 'brilliance'. It's a facet of his constant abuse by his Best Friend Forever (Oh Jaaaaade~) that continues to exacerbate his hidden uncertainty and self-esteem issues. He may not be as good as Jade, but he SURE AS HELL is better than everyone else, in his mind!

At the same time, though, Saphir is a man trapped in the desires of his childhood. The first death of Professor Nebilim affected him profoundly. He respected - perhaps even loved - the brilliant and kind woman, as much as a child understands love. The events of his life never really helped much. Peony and Jade were never very kind to him. Still, he was devoted to his best friends, no matter the abuse. As he grew older, his life didn't get much better. Even as one of the God-Generals, he is considered something of an eccentric joke (even if he is many times more dangerous than he was as a child). This has caused Dist to long for the days of his youth, when everything was simple, he could play, he had people who cared about him... and Jade could only put his life in danger a few times a week.

This desire has grown into an obsession. The traumatic death of Professor Nebilim is obviously (to Dist) where everything went bad. The attempt to create a replica didn't help much either. However, Dist believed that if he could master fomicry, and manage to 'resurrect' Nebilim properly, they can all go back to being 'friends' again. This is, of course, delusion. The destruction of the replica of Nebilim didn't help matters, and there was no way to gather the replica data anymore. The desperation and futility drove him to darker and darker deeds to try to find a way back. This childish desire contributes to his impetuousness, his emotional outbursts (he really does so want to be taken seriously, but...), and his desperate desire for acceptance.

But there was no way back for him. Nebilim is dead, and now, Jade, Peony, and Nephry are basically all he has left. But nothing can change the fact that he IS Dist the Rose, most beautiful and intelligent of the God-Generals!

And he'll tell you all about it.

RELATIONSHIPS: Jade - The man. The myth. The legend. Saphir always looked up to Jade. He was always so smart, so fun to be around, and so... strong. Sure, Jade uses a strange method of showing his friendship, but Saphir knows that Jade really likes him in the end! Dist always had a bit of a dearth of people to use as role-models, given his natural talents and genius, and Jade was perfect. He was even close to the same age!

Peony - Dist... isn't so fond of Peony. After all, Dist is just as smart, handsome, athletic, powerful, and, well, maybe not rich as Peony, but Jade actually shows some kind of /liking/ to him! It's not fair! Dist was his friend first! Still, he's nice enough... When he's not all hanging out with Jade like they're best buddies. That's DIST'S job!

Nephry - Sister to Jade, she gets points with Dist just from that. She was pleasant to him, which he appreciated, although she was always complaining to Jade that he was being too mean to poor Saphir. She doesn't need to be so hard on Jade, though! Jade just has an... eccentric way of showing his appreciation for having a wonderful friend like himself! That's it! But really, Dist generally takes Nephry's friendship for granted, since she's actually nice to him unlike the others, though he is nice to her as well.

THIRD PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:

"Isn't it brilliant?"
Jade bobs up and down. "Why yes, it's wonderful, Saphir. You were always so handsome and intelligent."
Dist twirls in his seat, weaving around. "Yes, I am~. I'm so glad that you're my friend, Jade, you care about me so much. And oh, look! Here's Peony!"
Peony hops forward, followed by a pair of rappigs. "Oh, Dist! I just wanted to give you an official decree that you are a better friend to Jade than I am!"
Dist twirls merrily, laughing. "It's simply the truth! But thank you for noticing, Peony~"
Nephry then slides forward, adding, "You and Jade get along so well together! I'm glad he met you, Saphir."
"I can only hope that he thinks the sa-"

*CRASH*

Dist twitches at the sudden noise, freezing at the noise of the door slamming open. A member of the Order of Lorelei stands there in the doorway, shouting. "SIR! ADJUTANT COMMANDANT LEGRETTA REQUESTS YOUR PRESENCE!"
Dist blinks, glasses glinting as he digests this information silently for a moment. "Yes... I'll be right there." A hand reaches up, adjusting his glasses. "Did you see anything?"
The man shakes his head. "No, Sir! I did not see you playing with your dolls again!" He closes the door, and is gone.
Dist's fist pounds the desk, the elaborately-decorated figures going flying. "Good!" He sighs... And then twitches. "HEY! DON'T YOU DARE MOCK THE BRILLIANT AND BEAUTIFUL DIST, THE ROSE!" He fistshakes at the door, jaw jutting out defiantly. "WHAT WAS YOUR NAME! IT'S GOING TO GO IN MY REVENGE JOURNAL!" The soldier doesn't answer, having long escaped. Dist sulks, muttering for a few moments, and turns in his chair. "Well, I suppose I'd best be moving along and see what Legretta would want with /my/ brilliance..." He sighs. "The life of a genius is never easy."
